The Welfare Reform Bill 2011 is getting very close to Royal Ascent , and then it will be law .

It will have it's second reading in the house of Lords on the 13th September and thereafter a committee stage.
to track the progress...Wefare reform passage through Parliament

There is only just time to get real peoples views across , so there will be events staged around regional areas to voice opinion on the prospective changes. These events are being arranged through The Hardest Hit which is part of the Disability Benefits Consortium of which NRAS is a member organisation.

The Changes that are proposed to go through will have a permanent effect on financial help for all families affected by disability, so it is important that real life situations and real consequences are explained to those in power .
I urge you to have a look at the prospective changes , and consider that even though the changes might not affect you now ..they could in the future.

Any change now , will in effect be permanent and irreversible , no matter who is in power.

So .. consider making your voice heard and actually listened to.. make a difference and try to attend one of the "events " on the Hardest hit site .
Keep an eye on the site as there will be more events nationwide announced prior to October 22nd :)

Rich :)

Dear Rich
I don't think I will be up to going to London on the 22nd. I am feeling dreadful at the moment. If there is any other way of protesting from home then I would gladly do it. is there an on-line petition that you know of or do you think a letter to my MP would help?
Naomi.

Hi Naomi , :)

No problem at all as there are both more events around other parts of the UK and details of how to protest on-line .
One of the best way to "protest" is to tell of your experiences to NRAS or tell your MP , how you will be affected

See Hardest Hit ...Protest Online.

and Hardest Hit...October Action.

.. But read all of the site ..and other people's stories on there , and keep up with what is going on .It might not affect you now , but it could affect you in the future .

Thanks for that Rich
I will write to my MP and sign the on-line petition. Also I will see if there are any events locally in the Torbay area. I'm just not up to travelling very far at the moment. I am quite newly diagnosed so have not got on top of my treatment etc but will do all I can. I work with people who have learning disabilities and will fight for them too as their voice is often not heard.

Naomi.
